Bicyclist tried to break into my car and kill me

I was at a red light, he rode his bike through traffic going the opposite way. He went through the red light toward me, hit my window on his way by, stopped his bike and proceeded to try to break my window and kick in my door. He was totally psycho.

I called the cops, they said it happened all the time around there. They also said they probably wouldn't catch him. I saw him again that night about a mile away going through a crosswalk. I consider it a good sign that I didn't once have an urge to run him over.

Map this on Platial

Car Flipped off I-17

I was trying to get onto the freeway when the car ahead of me on the onramp stopped. At first I didn't realize what had happened (it was night time), but I soon saw that there was a car upside down which I presume had flipped off of the I-17 freeway above us. It was mangled pretty badly and took me a while to really believe it was a car at all. Note: picture not actually the same overpass, although it does show some of the nice hideous faux-indian art of the area.

Map this on Platial

A few guys tried to carjack me here

Note: this is not the exact location. I can't remember exactly where I was, but it was around there.. Anyway, I was driving to get a friend of mine when I realized that there was a bunch of what looked like saran wrap wrapped from one sign two another on opposite sides of the road. Since it was blocking the road, I had to stop.. At first I thought, what the hell? And then I looked in the mirror and saw a few guys running up behind my car towards me. I then realized that I was caught in the middle of quite a ridiculous and elaborate, yet incredibly unique car-jacking attempt. Luckily I was able to back up quickly and get the hell out of there before they got to me. But seriously, who would have thought of that idea? That's so crazy!

Map this on Platial
A guy came up to me and told me to give him money. He wanted at least $5. I was in 7th grade! I was going to play video games at Castles and Coasters across the street. :(

Map this on Platial

A miracle happened here

About a week before I was going to move up to Portland I was pulled over by a cop here. The planning part of my move was not very strong: I had never been to Portland, I didn't have a job in Portland, I had barely enough money to get there, there were concerns as to whether or not my car would make it, etc. Anyhow, the point being that my plans were quite fragile. Also at the time I didn't have car insurance. The fine for this is quite hefty (in excess of $1,000 I believe), and they can tow your car if they really want to be mean about it. When the cop pulled me over I thought my plans were done for, and I was pretty angry about it. The first thing that cops usually do when they pull you over of course is, "license/registration/proof of insurance." This cop said, "why did you run that red light?" me: "i didnt." her: "yes you did." me: "no i didnt." She then asked if I had been drinking, I said no. Then she told me to be safe on the road and left. She didn't even ask for my driver's license!

Map this on Platial

Almost drove off a cliff here

I think these are called the siskiyou mountains. I was driving up to Portland from Phoenix and once we hit these mountain ranges, it was unbelievably foggy. I couldn't see more than 2 to 3 feet in front of my car, if that. All I could hear were the noises of trucks surrounding me. I tried to follow the lines as best as I could see them in the road, but apparently I was following on the wrong side of the line. I saw that I was about to run into a road sign, stopped, and realized that just after the road sign was a very steep drop off. Thank god for road signs! After a while we were able to make it back onto the road and I followed inbetween two trucks that I was able to find via sound and then via their brake lights, and they guided us down through the mountains. It was very dark, very foggy, very scary, and I was very tired. I would recommend not going through this mountain pass 1) during the winter 2) at night, in winter or otherwise, or 3) when you are tired. Soon after you clear the mountains, you get around the Myrtle Beach area which is one of the most beautiful areas of Oregon in my opinion. It is a nice consolation prize.

Map this on Platial

Intersection where a frat boy screamed lyrics at me

My wife (fiancee at the time) and I were walking home from shopping at Fred Meyer nearby and this frat-like kid drives up and hangs almost his entire body out of his car window and yells right at us: "I AM THE GOD OF HELL FIRE! AND I BRING YOU FIRE!" about 3 times. At the time I didn't know this was well referenced, so thought that despite his fratness, he was a fan of Electric Hellfire Club. This greatly impressed, amazed, and kind of frightened me. We laughed for an incredibly long amount of time.

Map this on Platial

Where an old man threatened to beat me up with his tennis racquet

I was about 13 and was playing "street hockey" with my friends on a tennis court in this park. An old man came up and told us that we couldn't use the tennis courts because he wanted to play tennis, and threatened to beat me up with his tennis racquet. He was at the very least 65 years old.

Map this on Platial

"...and it's on my thumbs"

my photography class in high school was very laid back. the teacher basically sat in his office, and we would sit in the classroom or dark room and hang out the whole time. one day, we were all sitting in the class talking and the door suddenly opens and someone yells "bitch!" and something goes flying into the classroom, hitting the wall and landing on the ground next to the teacher's desk (who was, luckily for him, in his office.)

after the initial shock, a normally quiet-type guy went over to inspect what the hell had just happened. apparently someone had just thrown a cup full of liquid into the classroom, directed at a girl (courtesy of an angry ex boyfriend), but very badly aimed (it hit no one, thank god.) and the liquid? the kid picked up the cup and said:

"it's.....urine.....and its......on my thumbs"

Map this on Platial
