Reutlingen (Germany)

Reutlingen is a small City in the South of Germany. Living here is very comfortable because Reutlingen is big enough to offer all the Ameneties of a much bigger Towns like Theaters, public Parks or cultural Events - but small enough to avoid the drawbacks of large cities.

Have a look at some Places of my Hometown :-)

Reutlingen Marktplatz (Marketplace)

Marketplace of the City of Reutlingen in the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg of Germany.

Around 1180 Reutlingen received the market right from Staufenkaiser Friedrich I. Barbarossa. Paving stone patterns on the ground of the market place indicate the ground plan of the Renaissance guildhall. It was destroyed during the big blaze in 1726. The fountain on the market place was built by Leonhard Baumhauer in 1570 and rebuilt in 1901 by Carl Lindenberger. A sculpture representing Kaiser Maximilian II. as a knight (1527-1576) is located on the fountain column. In 1576 it was Kaiser Maximilian II. who restituted the constitution for guild trade and democracy of the imperial city Reutlingen. (Source: www.tourismus-reutlingen.de)

If you would like to read more about the History of Reutlingen I recommend you this Story - written in german - of the local Newspaper of Reutlingen, the Reutlinger General-Anzeiger. It is about one of the City Guides which show the City to Tourists:
