Angry Make-Out Breaks Out @ the pAper chAse Show

6/17/06 -- I’ve seen about a million shows at The Beat Kitchen, but let’s talk about the latest live music experience from: the pAper chAse (pretentious use of letters, all theirs).

What can I say? Lots of whacked-out samples and tons of crazy singing about paranoia and fucked-up heart break by the lead singer who, with his bleached hair, looked like a little like Eminem but maybe on a little more meth. And I mean that in a good way!

I didn’t know how they were gonna pull the off the desperate eeriness of their latest CD all in one small live show, but they did.

Let’s look at the titles of tracks of their new CD “Now You Are One of Us” here, shall we?

1.its out there and its gonna get you
2. we know where you sleep
3. the kids will grow up to be assholes
4. wait until i get my hands on you
5. you will never take me alive ….
and more …

Umm, I think you get the point.

Not exactly the kind of songs you expect to bring out the romance, but that didn’t stop the two crazy kids in front of us from breaking-out into a really angry make-out that sort of turned into a slam dance as they started knocking people over while slobbering all over each other.

Until they were literally kicked out the fire exit door by one of the bouncers. While they were still totally making-out.

They didn’t even unlock lips for like, one second on their way out the door.

Let’s hear it for angry, paranoid love! Err, lust. Whatever.

Gloriously creepy about covers it all.

Good show, pAper chAse, good show.

p.s. I would be remiss to mention my favorite fellas from Minneapolis, MN opened, the OG TPC – The Plastic Constellations. Please feel free to read about their awesome show at the Empty Bottle earlier in the year, here on your fav site platial.com
