Black's Beach, America's most popular, is still an active nudist site in the state-owned portion. If visit, do your part to keep it that way by respecting the boundary signs and covering up if you're going beyond them.
Cautions: Nudity bans are enforced on the south end in the city-owned portion of Black's Beach ($135 fine)

Chaps

        Days: All
Hours: Noon - 2am. Chaps has two rooms, a medium-sized dance floor with multiple platforms, three bars, and great music. The floor gets dark and crowded during peak hours, particularly on weekends. A seating area and pool table can be found towards the back. The clientele varies depending on the time of day, but for nights dancing usually features a young, multi-ethnic, predominantly gay crowd.

Sunday T-dance here is the most populous in the city. (edgeboston.com)

Emperor's Garden Dim Sum

We went here with my husband's co-workers for a little cultural and social bonding. One of his colleagues is Chinese. It's so much better to go to a dim sum restaurant with a person who speaks Chinese and who knows more or less what the different foods actually are.

I'm not a big fan of dim sum because I'm allergic to shrimp and it's hard to keep track of which little dumplings are going to get you or not, but I like the chaotic atmosphere and just the grandiose bustle of this place. The ceiling was amazing.
Tags: dim sum, dumplings, chinese, crowded, huge, vast, msg, dragons, statues, gold, red, shiny, salty, clouds, sculptures, glittery

Map this on Platial

Daycare Park

Three different daycares congregate here every single weekday morning. It's a great place to hang out with your kid. Local people bring their old toys here and drop them off, so it is full of old plastic wagons, scooters, toy gas pumps, playhouses, annd one very large sdandbox tugboat.

The park was also renovated this year.

One of the coolest things about this park is that the flowering trees attract honey bees from a local hive. They're gentle honey bees. I've never seen a kid gett stung, thought they run through the water puddle where the bees congregate to drink.

Excellent climbing trees!

Galapagos Art Space and Bar

Cinematically inclined bar with stage and private performance space. Buddy Johnnie E. used to work here while doing his travelling cinema, I lived just blocks away, we'd explore the empty 50K gallon mayonnaise vats dangling from the ceiling and walk the catwalks undetected by the drinking patrons below. Other good memories include the Burlesque Humour Acrobatics of the Pontani Sisters, a very intimate performance by the Rachels and an inspiring show by the Tracktenberg Family Slide Show Players (with the 9 year old drummer). That back room is also notorious for about 20 very loudly breaking beer glasses, especially during movie events (that i'd always try to scam free tix to with carrie).
Tags: art, bar, williamsburg, brooklyn, fun, memories, dark, lake, climbing, night, jake hartman, crowded, pre 911, reflection pool, carrie dashow

Map this on Platial
