The Jason Roberts Challenger League provides children with disabilities the chance to learn how to play baseball. This league, run by Bill Hubbard, is dedicated to the memory of his nephew, Jason Roberts, whose life tragically ended at the age of 21 by a drunk driver on June 29, 1991.

The French Dessert and Wine Pairing will take place promptly at 2pm and last until 330pm at NuVo Kitchen and Wine Bar located at 4174 Washington Street, Roslindale on Sunday, February 25th, 2007. French desserts will be donated by A. Boschetto’s Bakery, and wines will be donated by Solera Wine Shop. A brief discussion of the desserts and wine pairings will be conducted by A. Boschetto’s owner Joseph Murphy and certified pastry chef Charbel Shweiri, and Solera owner Maria Valencia. Guests will sample delicious French desserts such as petit four, éclairs filled with chocolate cream topped with chocolate ganache, mini mocha tart apricot glazed and chocolate ganache, and more tasty desserts.

It was really very good. Set in an unassuming part of Colorado Springs (not much of Colorado Springs would be anything else, but this is very unassuming), the interior was surprisingly fashionable. The staff was very friendly and were honestly engaging. We truly felt they would have been nice to us, even if we weren't paying customers. I asked for a Smokey Martini, as I couldn't get one in the airport yesterday. They weren't sure what that was, so I told them. They made a very nice one. The used good scotch because of the novelty of being stumped. My first course was the Baked Brie, black mission fig Wooton chutney and micro greens. This came with a very large chunk of Brie. William can't eat cheese, but it was phenomenal. My second course was even better. The Tejon Tender. Char grilled, garlic leek mashers, haricot verts, blue cheese wontons and kecap demi glace. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The leek potatoes were also really good. And Blue Cheese wontons .... how can you go wrong? For dessert I had an amusing event. Their Tequila Sunrise dessert was a tequila lime mousse in fillo dough and a white chocolate topping and a lime coulis. So I get it and it was really good - but weird. So I asked the waitress what the minty taste was in my dessert. She looked horrified. The new pastry chef had apparently put the wrong coulis on. She must have asked if I was sure it was okay about 50 times. The funny thing was, it was pretty good that way.

"A funky eccentric evening coffee and dessert spot with live instrumental music. Check out the rotating tables, the underwater bathroom and the ohhh sooo bizarre atmosphere. A little like Grandma's house on psychedelics." - Drew

Rimsky-Korsakoffee is located in an old Victorian house. The only sign is tiny and right over the door, so it's easiest to find by its street number.

It's the sort of coffeehouse where you have a waiter and you get a bill at the end, rather than one where you order at the counter. There's origami and random objects hanging from the ceiling on string, and 'guestbooks' you can write in on the tables. And some of the tables, they do things you don't quite expect... There's live classical music most nights, a piano or a harp or a classic guitar. The bathroom upstairs is decorated to look like you're underwater, and it's one of a bunch of doors in a hallway with hats dangling from the ceiling. The other doors say things like, "No, not this door," and "You really better not to try to go through this door."

Needless to say, it's quite a strange, unique place.

On Friday and Saturday there's a $3 minimum per person, and there's a $1+ tip encouraged for the musician.
