Friday, April 07, 2006.
5:00pm meet at BASEKAMP for drinks and intro
5:30pm sharp, group sets out on a walk
For Event #1, Participants in Philadelphia will plan a walking tour from BASEKAMP into the city during "first friday", Philadelphia's monthly city-wide art evening. The walking group will carry flag-like game pieces and place them in key locations along the walk, and develop questions in relation to use and ownership in the context of the city, as an initial way to enter a critical dialogue about "post-autonomy" in the field of contemporary art.

Project description:
"Walk, Talk, Eat, Talk Some More" is a multi-city, multi-day project in and between London, Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, Malmö, San Francisco, Tallinn, Berlin, Portland and Stockholm. The project is an experimental hybrid of similar work by Ccred & 16 beaver (Counter Cartographies), BASEKAMP & The Institute for Advanced Architecture (Evident Use), and the Bureau of Research into Post Autonomy (Walking Tour), among others.
The idea behind this series of events is to link a number of different cities in a critical dialogue around the very lose notion of "post-autonomy" and the more specific theme: how can we construct a practice in the discursive space of post-autonomy?
The program includes three interlinked components: a collective counter.cartography walk through our different contexts; an alt.space meal (supper, dinner, luncheon) taking place in our different cities and linking us through the questions we pose to one another; and a concluding discussion taking the form of a web-cast linking us in real-time dialogue.
