LA Garment District
A quick guide to shopping in the LA garment district for fabrics and crafts. I have started with landmark stores, added a few of my favorite independent stores, and will add more as people request specific vendors or types of vendors.
It is now called The LA Fashion District and houses the largest concentration of fashion-related businesses in the Western United States. This $8 billion hub of the Southern California Apparel Industry rivals New York's garment district in size and reputation for premiering trend-setting fashions. The District attracts millions of wholesale and retail buyers every year. The symbiotic relationship and diverse range of fashion businesses (covering every stage of apparel production from design to manufacturing) makes the District an ideal incubator for small to midsize businesses. The LA Fashion District is a multi-faceted hub of fashion-related businesses serving both the trade and the general public. Designers, wholesalers, retailers, sewing contractors, pattern makers, manufacturers, market centers, and apparel marts all converge in this 82-block business improvement district to create a vibrant and eclectic business center.
