My Amazing Marriage Proposal
The day was Saturday, December 18th, 2004. Jake and I met for lunch in NE Portland. Lunch was good, but he was acting a bit strange... Quiet, nervous -- almost a bit giddy. As we finished cleaning our plates, he handed me a yellow envelope and said "Merry Christmas, I'll see you in a couple of hours." I asked what it was, and he would say nothing except, "it's your christmas gift -- enjoy and I'll see you in a couple of hours". I was speechless, excited and overwhelmed with the MYSTERY of this envelope and "gift" he mentioned. My head thought, oohhh a day at the spa or shopping spree... However, I would be wrong. What would unfold over the next couple of hours would be much more special and much more memorable than a day at the spa... The day will be remembered as the "Amazing Gift Race". This is the map of my race to my future husband.
