Description:
This is the spot where the town of Cupertino first spang up. It was first called "West Side" but they changed the name in 1898 because there were way, way too many towns also called "West Side."
Cupertino was the name Pedro Font had given to the nearby creek when he and Captain Juan Bautista de Anza explored the area. In 1904 the name was officially applied to the little town, which at that time consisted pretty much of a Post Office and a General Store.
