Description:
While most of the film Sommersby, staring Richard Gere, Jodie Foster and James Earl Jones, was shot in other parts of the state, Farmville played host to the film for a few days of shooting. This spot is featured in the opening credits in two places: to the immediate north about 15 feet is where the scene of two lynched men hanging was shot, to the east is the warehouse cleanup scene (in which Richard Gere rides by a fire in the middle of the road).
