Description:
This small independent theater opened in 1938 and is, according to their website, "dedicated to bringing the finest in independent, foreign and specialty film to Sacramento's film lovers".
I love this place. The theaters are small, intimate, and full of character. I love everything from the uneven floors to the bizarrely tall appearance of the rooms.
The Tower Cafe is right next door. The atmosphere is fantastic, making it a great place to just sit and have a drink, if nothing else. Sweet pastries seem to be one of their speacialties. Apparently the french toast is marvelous, but I've never tried it.
The theater could be in trouble if too many new movie screens open downtown. If you're a Sac area film lover, please give this place your business and visit
