I was sailing on the Golden Princess cruise ship sailing south after leaving Venice. It was about 4:00pm and I was in the hot tub. Someone came on deck and said a plane hit the WTC. We figured a small plane hit one of the towers. A short time alter someone else said another plane hit the other tower. Instantly the decks cleared and all the fun stopped. The mood on board was very somber and somewhat nervous. The cruise went on for another 4 days as we visited Greece and Turkey. Once in Turkey we were stuck for a few more days since there were no flights in/out of the US. Every American on board knew we were going back to a very different USA.
