Before being tossed into the pit by Ana Lucia, Nathan says that he is from Canada and that he had been coming home from an Australian corporate retreat.

Poor Nathan is mistaken for one of the Others, then killed by Goodwin, who is really one of them.

Oh well, he seemed like a bit of a prick anyhow.
