220 University lost a Burger King in 2001 and gained a Pizza My Heart, the slice-heavy, thin crust pizza joint that started in 1981 in surfer hangout Capitola Beach. With its decorated walls of surfer paraphernalia and photos, perhaps it looks a bit out of place in downtown Palo Alto, but it seems to have found a place in the neighborhood. Its young, attractively hip staff always sporting those Pizza My Heart shirts, may have helped the resturant get voted "Coolest Palo Alto Hang-out" by the 2003 Paly class. It also has plenty of Best of Palo Altos up on its walls. Owned by pizza magnet Chuck Hammers (who also oddly owns the competition---Pizza A Go Go---as well), Pizza My Heart continues to ride its own wave of popularity.
