Our farm offers you the hospitality of our Sienese countryside, where an authentic rustic lifestyle provides a natural setting.
It is located amid the fascinating scenery of the clay hills of Siena, where medieval castles and villages are scattered among landscapes of rare beauty, and rugged gullies wind through the gentle hills of the Val D’Orcia, which fade in the distance toward Mt. Amiata.
A soothing symphony of emotions, a work of art composed of hills, secluded farms, woods, vineyards, wheat fields, and cypresses, an irregular patchwork of shapes and spaces, all interweaving into a harmonious whole.
Il Poggio, which came into being through the joining of two family farms, was run as a traditional farm in the past.
It began operating as farm holiday establishment in 1987, with the initial restorations on the farm buildings, our horses and stables, and the Punto Ristoro country snack bar/pizzeria in Cantano.
Following this we worked extensively on a number of buildings and areas, giving shape to what Il Poggio is today: a farm holiday accommodation with the Casale, or main farmhouse, restored in 1990, the country house, redone as our home in 1978, the stables with riding grounds and the Punto Ristoro, converted from a stable renovated in 1987, and the small Borgo for eco-tourism holidays, created in 1996 as a typical rural village in the place of the old horse stables.

All of our suites and apartments are named after one of the horses, dogs, or estates at Il Poggio.

Our philosophy is to offer a holiday that mainly reflects our lifestyle, in full contact with nature, good food, good wine, and – above all – making you feel at home.
