Description:
In July of 1903 a mob overtook city hall. Their collective action caused the sheriff and other officers to flee, defenseless against over a thousand rioters. There was no one was left to protect the prisoner the mob would eventually kidnap. The mob was angered by a shooting earlier in the evening. John Metcalf allegedly shot and killed Carl Gatterman, a white man, outside of a saloon.

Now the site is occupied with a dilapidated parking garage.
