Turbonet, a WiMAX Forum member, has been awarded a test license from Turkey’s regulatory authorities, and is field testing Aperto’s end-to-end 3.5 GHz WiMAX-class solution, which includes an array of base stations, subscriber equipment, and an element management system. Aperto is also providing technical support in the execution of the trial.

Turkey boasts the 13th largest telecom market in the world and the 5th largest in Europe. With the recent liberalization of the fixed market, the privatization of the incumbent and further developments to come in the near future, the country’s telecom revenue is forecasted to reach US$23.8 billion at the end of 2010.
